Hiÿory of Ocean Based Ingredients
Today, marine-inspired skincare is everywhere. Seaweed extracts, algae, marine minerals, sea
fennel, marine collagen, and deep-sea fermentation ingredients appear in products around the
globe, even deep-sea marine vents.
Modern beauty companies frequently describe these ingredients using phrases such as:
¥ "Ocean-powered."
¥ "Sea-derived."
¥ "Marine-active."
¥ "Deep-water technology."
These terms sound wonderfully futuristic.
In reality, humanity has spent thousands of years taking ocean materials, processing them in
increasingly sophisticated ways, and applying them to skin. The difference is that today's products
arrive in sleek packaging instead of a bucket.
The full potential of the benefits of marine ingredients is still being discovered.
From antiinflammation to wound healing, these ingredients have a place in many of our beauty treatments
and anti-aging benefits. The latest discovery is PDRN. Which will be the focus of my next article.
